How Siddhartha Group of Institutions began

The group is managed by the Siddhartha Educational Society (Registration No. I363/2002-2003). Its first campus came up in Danda-Khudanewala, a green stretch of Dehradun with hills and forest on its sides, and all three institutes still sit there today.

The thinking behind it is explained in the chairman's message. Shri Durga Prasad Verma writes that when he was a student, professional education mostly meant the IITs and state engineering colleges, and very few people had heard of pharmacy, law or nursing as careers. SGI grew out of the wish to change that by setting up institutes for all three.

Siddhartha Law College is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi, and is affiliated with Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University. The college was named Best Law College of Uttarakhand at the 2nd State Level Educator's Summit.

Classroom study is backed by practice. Students take part in moot courts, mock judiciary tests and legal awareness camps, and visit the Nainital High Court and the Sudhowala District Jail. Sitting judges, advocates and IAS officers are invited for guest lectures during the year.

Siddhartha Institute of Pharmacy: PCI-approved pharmacy college in Dehradun

Siddhartha Institute of Pharmacy is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, and is affiliated with Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University. It was named Best Pharmacy Institute in Dehradun at the 10th Higher Education Innovation & Technology Summit. Siddhartha Nursing Education & Research Institute: nursing college in Dehradun

Siddhartha Nursing Education & Research Institute (SNERI) is affiliated with HNB Medical University, recognised by the Uttarakhand Nursing Council, and approved by the Medical Education Department, Government of Uttarakhand. For clinical training, the institute is attached with multi-specialty hospitals and a Community Health Centre in Dehradun.

• The Bar Council of India is the statutory body under the Advocates Act, 1961 that regulates the legal profession and sets standards for legal education.
• The Pharmacy Council of India was constituted under Section 3 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 to regulate the profession and practice of pharmacy.
• Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University, in Dehradun, was established on 27 January 2005 under the Uttarakhand Technical University Act, 2005.
• HNB Medical University, formally the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University, was set up under a 2014 Uttarakhand Act. The Act itself gives the university jurisdiction over the medical, dental, paramedical and nursing colleges of the state.
